The Terracotta Warriors
Discovered in 1974 by a group of farmers digging a well, Xian's Terracotta Warriors astounded the world with their artistry and sheer numbers. The terracotta army was constructed to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shihuang, the founding emperor of the Qin Dynasty, and the emperor who united China.
The City Wall
The ancient City Wall of Xian is the most intact ancient Chinese wall in existence. Xian's ancient City Wall circles and protects the ancient part of Xian City. Visitors to Xian rarely fail to miss, or be impressed by the grandness and simple beauty of the wall.
Great Mosque
It is a famous Islamic mosque and is located in the Muslim residential area. It was originally established in 742AD during the Tang Dynasty.
Big Goose Pagoda
The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is over 64 meters high and has 7 stories. It was constructed of bricks and each brick was individually ground into shape before being laid to ensure a perfect fit. Each storey of the pagoda is smaller than the previous and each floor is marked by several rows of prism shaped bricks.
Bell Tower Built during the early Ming Dynasty, it is one of Xian and China's grandest symbol's. A brick and timber structure, nearly 35 metres high, it originally housed a huge iron bell, this was replaced by a massive cast bronze bell nearly 10 inches thick and still in perfect condition today.
Shaanxi Provincial History Museum
Shaanxi province is the birthplace of the ancient chinese civilisation. The museum is contrructed in the Tang architecture style and contains 113,000 historic and cultural artefacts that were all unearthed in Shaanxi Province and arranged in chronological dynastic order.
