Yu Yuan Garden
The Yu Yuan Garden locates at the northeast corner of the old city in the south of Shanghai. There is the famous Yuyuan Market nearby. Renowned for its traditional landscape garden in the Suzhou style it is one of the best classical gardens in China.
 
The Bund
Modern Shanghai is largely a product of European colonialism, and much of the architecture reflects that heritage of banks, trading houses and consulates. It runs along the western bank of the Huang Po river facing Pudong and is one of Shanghai's most popular sites.
 
Jade Buddha
Yu Fu Si temple was founded in 1882 to house two white jade Buddha's bought from Burma, it was destroyed and abandoned in 1911, ten years were spent reconstructing the temple buildings from 1918-1928. Today it serves as a Buddhist Monastery and welcomes visitors and worshippers.
 
Nanjing Road (Shopping)
China's premier shopping street, stretching from The Bund towards Hongqiao with the city centrepoint People's Square in the middle. An endless array of famous western brands are on offer along with more traditional Chinese speciality shops selling silk, jade, embroidery etc make this the ultimate shoppers paradise. When the sun goes down the numerous entertainment, drinking and dining options come alive amongst the neon lit signs.
 
Xin Tian Di
This is the hotspot for western and asian bars, food, entertainment, boutiques. Popular with affluent locals and expats.
 
Shanghai Museum
For anyone with an interest in ancient arts this museum is a must-see. It is one of the four largest museums in China and contains 120,000 cultural relics which include bronzes, ceramics, painting, calligraphy and ancient sculptures.
