Days 1-2 UK - Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing and transfer to the hotel, rest of the day free to relax.
Days 3 Beijing
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square. It is the largest public square in the world. Then we will explore the incredible Forbidden City, which has the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China. We will also visit the beautiful Temple of Heaven. This ornate structure, made entirely of wood, was built in 1420 and is still used as a hall of prayer for good harvests. During the evening there will be a delicious Peking Duck Dinner.
Days 4 Beijing
This morning we are going to visit the Great Wall at Badaling. After Lunch we are going to visit the remarkable Ming Tombs Museum where thirteen emperors are buried. On the way back we will stop at the Olympic Stadium know as the Bird’s Nest for you to take some photos.
Days 5 Beijing - Xian
We will take a look at the Summer Palace before we take a flight to the former ancient capital of China, Xian. Arrive in Xian, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for two nights' stay. Today we will visit the City Wall.
Days 6 Xian
The Terracotta Warriors, and important archaeological discovery of the 20th century, will be one of the attractions we will be seeing today. This afternoon we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, with a history of almost 2000 years. A traditional Chinese cultural performance, Tang Dynasty Show, with a special dumpling dinner, has been arranged for the night.
Days 7 Xian – Dunhuang
Visit famous the Shaanxi Historical Museum. Among the 400,000 items on display are treasures from many Dynasties. We stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to visit the Great Mosque and explore the Islamic food markets before taking a flight to Dunhuang.
Days 8 Dunhuang
Visit the world famous Buddhist murals and sculptures of the Magao Grottoes.
Days 9 Dunhuang – Turpan
We will visit the beautiful Moon Lake and the Mingsha Desert, then take coach transfer to Liuyuan for the overnight train to Turpan.
Days 10 Turpan
Upon arrival in the morning, we will visit the Gaochang Ancient City, Astana Ancient Tombs and Flaming Mountain.
Days 11 Turpan – Urumqi
We will take the coach to Urumqi. We will visit the local museum upon arrival. We shall stay in Urumqi for two nights.
Days 12 Urumqi
Travel to Heavenly Lake for breathtaking views of the crystal clear water at the top of a stunning mountain range today.
Days 13 Urumqi – Shanghai
We will be transferred to the airport to take the flight to Shanghai.
Days 14 Shanghai
Today we will visit the tclassical Chinese Yu Yuan Garden and walk along the famous Bund, the city’s famous riverside boulevard, is lined with magnificent former colonial buildings which now stand as monuments to Shanghai’s one-time notoriety. In the evening enjoy a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.
Day 15 Shanghai – UK
Transfer to Shanghai Airport and fly back to the UK.
