Days 1-2 UK - Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing and transfer to the hotel, rest of the day free to relax.
Days 3 Beijing
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square. It is the largest public square in the world. Then we will explore the incredible Forbidden City, which has the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China. We will also visit the beautiful Temple of Heaven. This ornate structure, made entirely of wood, was built in 1420 and is still used as a hall of prayer for good harvests. During the evening there will be a delicious Peking Duck Dinner.
Days 4 Beijing
This morning we are going to visit the Great Wall at Badaling. After Lunch we are going to visit the remarkable Ming Tombs Museum where thirteen emperors are buried. On the way back we will stop at the Olympic Stadium know as the Bird’s Nest for you to take some photos.
Days 5 Beijing - Xian
After we visit The Summer Palace, we take a flight to the former ancient capital of China, Xian. Upon arrival in Xian, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for two nights' stay.
Today we will visit the City Wall.
Days 6 Xian
Today we will be exploring one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors. This afternoon we will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, with a history of almost 2000 years. A traditional Chinese cultural performance, the Tang Dynasty Show, with a special dumpling dinner, has been arranged for the night.
Days 7 Xian – Guilin
We will visit the famous Shaanxi Historical Museum today. Among the 400,000 items on display, there are treasures from many Dynasties. We will then stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to visit the amazing Great Mosque and explore the Islamic food markets. After this we will fly to Guilin.
Days 8 Guilin – Yangshuo
Cruise on the Li River and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of beautiful limestone hills, tranquil fishing scenes and the peaceful villages. We will continue downstream to the riverside town of Yangshuo.
Day 9 Yangshuo – Guilin
Walk along or take a bicycle on the streets of Yangshuo and soak in the atmosphere of this charming town. Then drive back to Guilin and visit the colourful Reed Flute Caves.
Day 10 Guilin – Kunming
Visit the Fubo Hill for a panoramic view over Guilin before taking a flight to Kunming.
Days 11 Kunming
This will be a full day excursion to the remarkable Stone Forest at southeast of Kunming. It is a large area of limestone pillars, eroded over 270 million years into bizarre and fanciful shapes which resemble a dense forest. In the evening we will sample the famous Across the Bridge Noodles.
Days 12 Kunming – Dali
Travel by coach to the enchanting town of Dali.
Days 13 Dali
Enjoy a cruise on Erhai Lake, participate in a traditional tea tasting ceremony, visit the Three Pagodas and explore Dali’s Ancient Quarter.
Days 14 Dali – Lijiang
Transfer to Lijiang, a UNESCO world heritage site and wander through the quaint cobbled streets of the Old Quarter. In the evening, enjoy the acclaimed Naxi Ancient Music Show and admire the traditional and colourful costumes.
Days 15 Lijiang
We will see the Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the most dramatic and deepest gorges in the world and enjoy the truly breathtaking scenery that surrounds it.
Days 16 Lijiang – Kunming
Visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which soars to a height of 5500m and enjoy the amazing scenery. We also visit Black Dragon Pool before flying back to Kunming.
Days 17 Kunming – Shanghai
Take a fly to Shanghai. Transfer to hotel for two nights' stay.
Days 18 Shanghai
Today we will visit the classical Chinese Yu Yuan Garden and walk along the famous Bund, the city’s famous riverside boulevard, which is lined with magnificent former colonial buildings which now stand as monuments to Shanghai’s one-time notoriety. In the evening enjoy a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.
Day 19 Shanghai – UK
Transfer to Shanghai Airport and fly back to the UK.
