Days 1-2 UK - Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing and transfer to the hotel, rest of the day free to relax.
Days 3 Beijing
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square. It is the largest public square in the world. Then we will visit to the incredible Forbidden City, which has the largest and best preserved collection of all ancient buildings in China. We also visit the beautiful Temple of Heaven. This ornate structure, made entirely of wood, was built in 1420 and is still used as a hall of prayer for good harvests. During the evening there will be a Peking Duck Dinner.
Days 4 Beijing
This morning we are going to visit the Great Wall at Badaling. After lunch we are going to visit the remarkable Ming Tombs Museum where thirteen emperors were buried. On the way back we will stop at the Olympic Stadium know as the Bird’s Nest for you to take some photos.
Days 5 Beijing - Xian
We will be visiting the Summer Palace before we take a flight to the former ancient capital of China, Xian. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for two nights' stay. Today we will visit the City Wall.
Days 6 Xian
The Terracotta Warriors, an important archaeological discovery of the 20th century, will be one of attractions we will be seeing. This afternoon we are going to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. A traditional Chinese cultural performance, the Tang Dynasty Show, with a special dumpling dinner, has been arranged for the night.
Days 7 Xian – Luoyang
This morning we will see the famous Shaanxi Historical Museum. Among the 400,000 items on display there are treasures from many Dynasties. We will then stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to visit the amazing Great Mosque and explore the Islamic food markets. After this we will take a train to Luoyang.
Days 8 Luoyang
Today will be a full day excursion to Longmen Grottoes and White Horse Temple. Longmen Grottoes is one of the four largest grottoes in China. Since White Horse Temple was built, Buddhism monasteries in China began to be called 'temple'. White Horse Temple, as a result, was ever since regarded as the cradle land of Buddhism in China.
Days 9 Luoyang – Zhengzhou
Today we will visit the Shaolin Temple, which is shrouded in legend and mystery. The origin of martial arts is part of the mystique of the monastery. This is the most famous temple in China, not only because of its long history and its role in Chinese Buddhism, but also because of its martial arts. We watch the famous the Kung Fu Show here.
Days 10 Zhengzhou – Shanghai
We will take a look at the Yellow River before taking a flight to Shanghai.
Days 11 Shanghai
Today we will visit the classical Chinese Yu Yuan Garden. Then we will walk along the famous Bund, the city’s famous riverside boulevard, which is lined with magnificent former colonial buildings which now stand as monuments to Shanghai’s one-time notoriety. In the evening enjoy a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.
Day 12 Shanghai – UK
Transfer to Shanghai Airport and fly back to the UK.
